Summer Luncheon

On August 23 SAS held our Summer Luncheon at China’s Cuisine in the Village Shops of Kingsmill. What? A bunch of Scots eating Chinese food? Well, why not? The superiority of Scottish food is a given, so why not try something new? We all know that haggis tastes a lot better than General Tso’s chicken, and a bottle of Scotch is certainly far superior to a pot of jasmine tea, right? Anyway the food at China’s Cuisine turned out to be delicious! Our thanks to Bob Young and Byron Adams for arranging this fun get-together. Attendance was good and it was great to have Jim Anthony back with us again.

Bob and Byron presented the program, a reading of some of the poetry of Robert W. Service. He was the Scottish “Bard of the North” who traveled to Alaska in the days of the gold rush. Most everyone has heard his poems but I had never known he was a Scot. Byron gave us a great reading.
